Inside Operations: Prepping for a New Year

On the third Wednesday of every month, a member of the Facilities and Operations staff will give a behind-the-scenes look at what’s going on around its area and the department. Over the course of every month, each department will be featured at least once. Coming Monday: Academics.

Finals week can be difficult for the student-athletes and their time management skills are finally put to the test.  The facilities and operations department may not have to take finals, however we are trying to finalize many projects before the New Year.

We have been working on many projects this winter so far such as office moves as all of our external staff (marketing, sports communications, ticket sales, and corporate sales) have moved into the old football offices in the Courtland North building.

Court volleyball also has been moved into a new locker room. They will now occupy the old women’s basketball locker room in the Sports Arena.  This area gives the team a larger locker room as well as an area for the entire team to watch film.  The locker room was completely repainted and branded for the volleyball team.

We will also be beginning to prep the baseball and softball fields for the spring seasons that are quickly approaching.  Our softball complex is also getting some small renovations including a new LED scoreboard, and we will be installing a new fence and windscreen.  Another project in place during the winter break is a detailed clean of our football facility as well as painting the hallways and locker rooms to get the building ready for recruits who will be visiting campus.

While the University is closed for winter break, the Facilities, Operations, and Grounds staff will be working throughout the winter break, after spending a couple days home with family, to keep all of Georgia State University’s athletic facilities in tip-top shape.

We hope everyone has safe travels and a wonderful holiday break!   Please provide some feedback as to what questions you have as fans, what would you like to hear more about regarding Facilities and Operations here at Georgia State.

See you at the game!
