Football Luncheon Kicks Off Start of 2013 Season

Football LuncheonWow, what a great turnout we had at Thursday’s third annual GSU Football Kickoff Luncheon.  Panther Athletic Club donors, alumni and friends gathered at East Lake Golf Club to officially kick off the 2013 Georgia State football season with first-year head coach Trent Miles, his staff and student-athletes.

During the program, attendees heard from Georgia State Director of Athletics Cheryl Levick, Sun Belt Commissioner Karl Benson, and new PAC Board President Allen Poole.  The program was emceed by the Voice of the Panthers, Dave Cohen.

New for this year’s event, attendees were encouraged to submit questions that were answered in the program by Miles and football senior Michael Davis.  Questions included topics such as what it means to be a student-athlete in the Sun Belt Conference, what coach Miles expects to see from Samford and which position groups have stood out, among others.

Before the program officially began at noon, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a silent auction by bidding on GSU items including football jerseys and exclusive seating opportunities. The silent auction was very exciting for us to watch as there were several bidding wars going on between fans.  This event was also the first opportunity for fans to purchase the new anthracite helmets autographed by Miles.

On behalf of the PAC staff, thank you to those who attended the GSU Football Kickoff Luncheon to help make this event our best yet.  If you have any suggestions on how we can continue to make this a great event, please contact us at pac@gsu.edu or 404-413-4126.

See everyone at the Dome next Friday as GSU kicks off the season against Samford!
