Inside Video & Creative Services: Behind the Camera

On the fourth Monday of every month, a member of the Georgia State Video and Creative Services staff will give InsideGSUSports a look at what is going on in their department. Over the course of every month, each department will be featured at least once. Coming next Tuesday: Marketing.

Greetings Panther Nation! I’m Wade Johnston, Director of Video and Creative Services for Georgia State Athletics. I arrived in April from the University of Memphis. I am a native of Georgia and could not be more excited of being a part of Georgia State Athletics.

We have been extremely busy and goal-oriented the past few months for you, the fans. Since we are now playing at the FBS level, it’s time to put on our “big boy britches” and open the doors to what you want and expect from video. With that said, there are a lot of positive changes happening.

When I first arrived the main goal was to create an identity for the video department. After lots of planning and researching, PantherVision was created. The overall mission of PantherVision is simple; make great content available to you, the fans. We have made many upgrades to our video equipment and are becoming industry standard across the board with our equipment and production. And trust me, we are only just beginning. As you already know, we have created a lot of content to keep you updated on GSU Athletics and will create more content for every other sport in the athletics department. It’s important to me that you get what you want when you want it, and that is exactly what PantherVision is about.

Live online streaming and full-game archives are also getting an upgrade. And by upgrade, I mean a total upgrade! Video will be crisp, clear, and audio will be perfect. I want to be able to make you, the fan, have the ability to enjoy watching Georgia State Athletics events online just like watching ESPN. Of course we want you at the actual game, but if you can’t make it, you can watch online in many cases. If you are one of those fans who missed the game completely, no worries. We will archive the full games on the PantherVision page on the athletics site. ESPN3 and Sun Belt Network games will be archived as well on PantherVision….in HD.

As for the future, get ready. We are already making some great improvements on the back end of PantherVision to get you a better experience than ever before!

Thank you for following and see you behind the camera.

–Wade Johnston
