Men’s Basketball Gameday Nugget: Old Dominion

The Panthers are finally back home for a pair starting with Old Dominion on Saturday so it is time for another Men’s Basketball Gameday Nugget. For each game during the regular season (and hopefully postseason), I will try to post something that most fans would not know. Some will be more complex than others, but hopefully it will be something that if you are standing around the water cooler the next day would impress your friends.

Because we have a 2 p.m. game today, we present two nuggets of information:

No. 1 – Georgia State and Old Dominion will meet for the 20th time on Saturday. The Panthers have won the last two meetings, though the Monarchs had won 15 of the previous 17 meetings before last year.

No. 2 – The last time Georgia State and Old Dominion met in Atlanta (Feb. 2, 2013), R.J. Hunter scored a career-high 38 points, making a school-record and CAA record 10 3-pointers. At one point in the second half, Hunter scored 19-straight Panther points. He later earned Lou Henson National Player of the Week honors for his efforts along with CAA Player and Rookie of the Week honors.

Be sure to come back next Friday for another Men’s Basketball Gameday Nugget as the Panthers face in-state foe Georgia Southern  in the GSU Sports Arena.
