Men’s Basketball Gameday Nugget: Georgia Southern

Since Friday night is a very special game, it was time for a very special Men’s Basketball Gameday Nugget. For those just following us, each game during the regular season (and hopefully postseason), I will try to post something that most fans would not know. Some will be more complex than others, but hopefully it will be something that if you are standing around the water cooler the next day would impress your friends.

As Georgia State will face in-state foe Georgia Southern for the final time as non-conference rivals, I wanted to come up with something that I really didn’t think people would know. Due to having some great student-athletes who tell me everything I need to know, I had one come to me that was too good to pass up.

So in honor of a rivalry on the court and now within a family:

Not only will state bragging rights be on the line Friday night, but family bragging rights as well as GSU’s Ryan Harrow faces off against cousin Tre Bussey from Georgia Southern.

It will mark the first time the two face each other at the collegiate level.  Harrow is averaging a team-best 19.8 points per game, the third best mark in the Sun Belt, while dishing out 3.9 assists per game, tops on the team and fifth in the league. The transfer is shooting 46.5-percent from the floor and 81.5-percent from the free throw line.

Bussey is a 6-3 senior-guard  averaging 18.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. Both players are among the top-50 in the nation in scoring.

Be sure to come back Sunday for another Men’s Basketball Gameday Nugget as the Panthers face UTSA on the road in San Antonio, Texas.
