Men’s Basketball Gameday Nugget: Texas State

The win streak may have come to an end on Saturday night at Troy, so that only leaves us with one thing to do…start a new one on Monday night. And the Panthers have won nine-straight at home this year, so we need to keep that going. As Coach Hunter says, to win championships, you must win your home games.

So since we know that our students and fans will show up to support Georgia State in the first of three home games this week, here is your Men’s Basketball Gameday Nugget.

In case you are just joining us, all season long I have tried to give our fans a nugget that they might not otherwise know. Great water-cooler stuff as I like to call it.

R.J. Hunter is currently averaging 20.2 points per game. Only six times in program history has a Panther averaged 20 or more points a game for the season. The last time it happened was when Thomas Terrell averaged 20.5 point per game during the 2001-02 season. The record is held by Ron Ricketts who averaged 21.1 points per game during the 1970-71 season.

Be sure to come back Thursday for another Men’s Basketball Gameday Nugget as the Panthers continue their home-stand with UL Monroe at 7 p.m.
