Inside Communications: Spring Has Sprung

On the third Monday of every month (we pushed this one a few days or a week), a member of the Georgia State Communications staff will give InsideGSUSports a look at what is going on in their department. Over the course of every month, each department will be featured at least once. Coming Wednesday: Video.

Spring has sprung here in the sports communications office. It is always a fun time of year for us because there is so much going on. The basketball season has come to an end and baseball, softball, tennis, golf, sand volleyball, spring football and track & field are all in full swing. What does that mean for our office, a lot of home events and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Although it means a lot of extra hours, it also means a lot of events in front of home crowds. Road trips are fun, but getting to see our student-athletes perform in front of great home crowds is so much better. Just take a look at this upcoming weekend alone:

Baseball – Home against Troy on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Softball – Home against Auburn on Wednesday before traveling to Troy
Sand Volleyball – Hosts Sand in the City this weekend, including No. 1 Pepperdine coming to Atlanta.
Women’s Golf – Hosts the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate, the program’s only home event of the year. It will be competed at Eagle’s Landing Country Club
Track & Field – Competes just across town at Georgia Tech (close enough to be a home meet)
Football – The team continues spring practice all week and then goes on the road to McEachern High School on Saturday.

So as you can see, its a great time of year for Georgia State and we welcome you to join us at the ballpark, on the course or even in the sand. This is going to be (and already is) a great spring season at Georgia State!
