Inside Marketing: An Exciting Week in Panthersville

On the first Monday of every month, a member of the Georgia State marketing staff will give InsideGSUSports a look at what is going on in their department. Over the course of every month, each department will be featured at least once. Coming Wednesday: Compliance.

The weather is getting better, and the pollen is starting to appear, which can only mean one thing, spring is finally here! It’s been a busy two months here in the GSU Athletics Marketing office, and another busy month is underway as the first week of April comes to an end. Georgia State baseball is midway through their season, and GSU softball has only six home games left. If you haven’t attended a baseball or softball home game this season, now is the time. We have several exciting games and events coming up.

GSU Baseball vs. Mercer

Wednesday, April 9th at 6 pm
– Blue Out (Wear your GSU Blue to the game)
– We will play baseball bingo throughout the game
– Several in game promotions for fans to enjoy
– Guess the player (Try and guess the GSU Baseball player from a series of questions answered by that player)
– Guess the 7th inning stretch (Guess what time the 7th inning stretch will occur)
– 3rd inning triple t-shirt toss (If the Panthers hit a triple in the 3rd inning t-shirts will be thrown into the crowd)
– Pocket Litter (Be the first person to report to the marketing table with the designated mystery pocket litter item)
– GSU Home Run Inning (If the Panthers hit a Homerun during 4th inning, one lucky fan will win a prize)
– 5th inning rally (Depending on what the Panthers hit in the 5th inning (single, double, etc.), one lucky fan will take home one or multiple prizes. The better the hit the better the prize)
– Mystery Item (A mystery item will be on the marketing table. The item will be removed early in the game. The first fan to guess what the item on the table was will win a prize)
– Slap koozie giveaway to the first 100 fans in attendance

All Blue, All In Day, Saturday, April 12, Panthersville

Football scrimmage, noon
Softball vs. Texas State, 1 p.m.
Men’s soccer vs. Erskine (Exhibition), 1 p.m.
Baseball vs. UT Arlington, 2 p.m.
Softball vs. Texas State, 3 p.m.
Men’s soccer vs. Shorter (Exhibition), 4 p.m.

This day will be very eventful as we have several different events going on in Panthersville! The GSU Football team will be holding a scrimmage at the DeKalb County Football Stadium. Come out to watch the football team prepare for the upcoming season. We will have our inflatable slide and Pounce House, social photo fun shop, prize giveaways: Atlanta Braves tickets, College Football Hall of Fame membership, sideline passes to a home football game, and much more. There will also be several food trucks in attendance. Be sure to invite your family and friends out to try some of the top mobile cuisines around Atlanta!

Sounds like an awesome day for football right? It sure is… but it doesn’t stop there. On the same day, the GSU Baseball team will take on UT-Arlington. This will be a special game for GSU Baseball, as they will be honoring the 2009 CAA championship team. Former championship team members will be in attendance! The GSU Baseball Complex is adjacent to the football stadium, and is close in walking distance.

GSU Softball will play a double header against Texas State at the Robert E. Heck Softball Complex. They will be playing softball bingo during each game, and collapsible water bottles will be given to all fans in attendance.

GSU Men’s Soccer will play two exhibition games. The first game will be against Erskine and the second game will be against Shorter. Both games will take place at the GSU Soccer Complex.

This is a great opportunity for you to come watch all of the events going on this day in one location!

Admission to the football scrimmage and men’s soccer exhibitions is free. A special ticket will be available for GSU Softball and GSU Baseball. For only $3.00, a this ticket will get you into both the baseball game as well as the softball game. You don’t want to miss out on this fun and exciting day. GSU Softball Breast Cancer Awareness Game

On Sunday April 13th at noone, GSU Softball will take on Texas State for the final game of the three game home series. This will be our Breast Cancer Awareness Game. We will be honoring survivors, collecting donations, and hold a silent auction filled with authentic GSU softball gear and game day experience for fans.  All of the money raised during this game will go to Play 4 the Cure to help fund Breast Cancer Research. Be sure to come out and support the GSU Softball team Sunday afternoon!

GSU Baseball vs. Kennesaw State (Student Bus Game)

On Thursday, April 15th at 6pm GSU Baseball will take on in-state rival Kennesaw State at the GSU Baseball Complex. This will be our student bus game. A charter bus will be leaving the University Commons starting at 4:30 pm, taking students to the baseball game. The bus will make several round trips to pick up students. Once the game is over, the bus will bring all students back to the University Commons. There will be a sign outside of the University Commons designating the bus pick-up location. Don’t miss the chance to cheer on your GSU baseball team in a great rivalry game against Kennesaw State! Be sure to get there early because the first 100 fans in attendance will receive a GSU Collapsible Water Bottle. All GSU students will get free admission to the game. Bring your appetite because concession stand at the baseball complex offers a variety of your favorite ballpark foods!
