It was another successful week for current and former members of the Georgia State golf program. Things should really start to pick up in the next couple of weeks, so make sure to check in with the InsideGSUSports Golf Update every week.
On the men’s side:
Davin White travelled north and finished 25th at the prestigious Sunnehanna Amateur in Pennsylvania. White shot rounds of 69-74-73-68 to finish at 4-over. His tournament was highlighted with an eagle during the first round and three birdies and just one bogey in the final round.
White along with Nathan Mallonee will be competing in the Greystone Invitational in Birmingham, Ala., later this week.
White will also be back in action with Damon Stephenson at the Dogwood Invitational next week as well. One of the premier tournaments in the country takes place just up the street from Georgia State at Druid Hills Country Club.
On the pro side:
Following a tie for fifth the week before, Joel Sjoholm finished tied for 25th at the Najeti Hotels et Golf Open in France. Sjoholm shot rounds of 72-71-71-73.
In the same event, Mark Haastrup and Steven Tiley unfortunately just missed the cut as all three make a push for the European PGA Tour in 2015.
Jonathan Fricke will be back in action on the Web.com Tour at the Air Capital Classic in Wichita, Kan., later this week.
Remember to check back next week to see how these golfers did and what is on the horizon as the summer continues.
