Summer Golf Update – June 24th

It was another successful week and maybe the busiest of the summer so far for the Georgia State golf program. Make sure to check in with the InsideGSUSports Golf Update every week to see how current and former members of the men and women’s golf team are doing.

On the men’s side:

Davin White continued his busy summer schedule, traveling to Birmingham, Ala., for the Greystone Invitational. White played consistent golf to earn an impressive fourth place finish, shooting 71-73-72-68.

Rising sophomore Nathan Mallonee also made the trip over the state line and scored a tie for 28th. After opening with rounds of 73 and 76, Mallonee shot back-to-back 1-under 71s on the weekend to finish at 3-over in a very strong field.

White, along with Damon Stephenson will be back in action at the Dogwood Invitational this week. One of the premier tournaments in the country takes place just up the street from Georgia State at Druid Hills Country Club.

Hayden Poole, who will be an incoming freshman this year, shot a 1-over 73 in the Dogwood Invitational qualifier on Monday to just miss out on an opportunity to play in the field this week.

On the women’s side:

Both Lauren Court and Melissa Siviter will be playing in the Georgia Women’s Top-60 which begins on Tuesday at Rivermont Country Club in Johns Creek. The tournament features the top-60 female golfers by handicap in the state of Georgia.

On the pro side:

Jonathan Fricke finished tied for 38th on the Web.com Tour’s Air Capital Classic in Wichita, Kan. Fricke shot rounds of 66-69-71-69 to finish at 5-under. He is currently No. 83 on the Web.com Tour money list.

On the Alps Tour, Tom Sherreard finished sixth at the Open International de la Mirabelle D’or. Sherreard shot 72-69-70-70 to finish at 3-under par.

Remember to check back next week to see how these golfers did and what is on the horizon as the summer continues.
