Getting Ready to Roll

It’s that time of year. I can’t say we’re fully ready, but then again no one ever is. But, with the season right around the corner, we are right on track to get things rolling as the football team gets into its first season as a full FBS member. The final transition paperwork was filed in May, and here we are in July, just a couple weeks from Sun Belt Conference Media Day (July 22) and then the start of fall camp (Aug. 1). The football season is upon us fans, and it’s time to roll.

With that, you’ll start to see things pick up from our office as well as several other areas. July is when the marketing, tickets, sales, development and communications departments start to get their plans for the season in gear. The planning has been and now it’s time to put things in motion.  One visible piece from our office will be through social and digital starting today — and running every day until Aug. 27 when the Panthers kick off in the first FBS game in the nation against Abilene Christian.

Between now and then, you’ll be hard pressed to miss countdown across social media. There will be graphics daily on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Today you see a fan highlight video. Those will come at Day 50 (today), as well as Days 40, 30 and 20. Beginning with Day 10 and each day after that until one day remaining before kickoff, we will have higher-end, individualized video pieces showcasing the hard work players — both returning and new — are putting in in the offseason.

You may have also noticed the graphics on the covers of our social media pages and the background on Those will be updated weekly during the regular season as well, highlighting home games across all sports. And there will be more stories. The stories of the players and coaches and you, our #PantherFamily. They will be written stories, or they could be photo galleries on social media, or video pieces produced by PantherVision. We’re also looking at some new ways to tell stories with other new media.

It’s a large amount of content and information, and we’re going to ask you to play a role: share it. Tell others. We’re pushing it out, but we need each of you to do it as well. Retweet our countdown. Like AND share our Facebook and Instagram posts. Let everyone you know there’s a reason the #PantherFamily is growing and it’s because we are moving forward and believe in each other.

There will be more. But since we’re just pushing out these graphics and videos starting today, we thought this would be a good place to let you know, especially for those of you who are already signed up to get our emails instantly when we post a new blog. Thank you for following us, and thank you to anyone who reads this for being a Panther support.

Enjoy the rest of the summer, and watch for what’s next. Soon as you blink, it’ll be Aug. 27 and we’ll all be in the Georgia Dome wondering where July went.
