Inside Marketing: Help us Name the Basketball Student Section

On the first Monday of every month, a member of the Marketing staff will give a behind-the-scenes look at what’s going on around its area and the department. Over the course of every month, each department will be featured at least once. Coming next Wednesday: PAC.

Basketball season is here (men’s exhibition vs. Georgia College tonight at 7 p.m.) and excitement has never been higher than it is right now. The Sports Arena has always provided our teams with a unique home court advantage. With the excitement around these teams, it is time to take our home court advantage one step further. We need to find an identity for our student section. Over the past month members of the athletic department have formed a committee with students of Panther Nation, Student Government Association, Spotlight programs board, Greek Life, and other various student organizations to come up with a few options for our student body to vote on. We asked these students to come up with a few names based on the following criteria:

  • It must not be associated with someone’s name. We want this name to stick for many years to come.
  • Something unique to our campus.
  • Students must be the ones to choose this name. It is your section, we want you to be in control.

After reviewing all of the options available our student committee decided that they wanted to name the student section (area where they sit) and the people who make up the student section (people who sit in this section).

We are going to close the voting on Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. and will unveil the new name at an upcoming home game (There might be some goodies involved).

We are looking for members of our student body to help with assisting the game atmosphere in the Sports Arena. If you are interested, please contact Parker Hendricks at phendricks1@gsu.edu.

Please share this with your friends, and follow @GSUStudentSect for more updates (This name will change once it is unveiled).
