Men’s Basketball Number of the Game: 68.2

Georgia State closes out the non-conference portion of the schedule on Saturday facing Green Bay for the second time this season. The Panthers will take on the Phoenix at the Resch Center at 1 p.m. ET. If you can’t make it out to the game, listen to the game on 1340 The Fan 3 or 1230 The Fan 2 or watch live on ESPN3.

Georgia State has won 29 of its last 35 games dating back to last season. This year’s 7-3 start is tied for the third-best 10-game start to a season in program history. Both are huge positives heading into Sun Belt Conference play next week.

As you know, running through the entire season, the InsideGSUSports blog will present the Number of  the Game, a quick number and explanation of its significance before tip-off.

The number will come from a variety of different places, but will always be significant to the team or that specific game.

Today’s Number of the Game:

Junior Markus Crider is shooting a team-best 68.2 percent from the floor this season. The number is tied for the best in the conference heading into play on Saturday. How impressive is that total? If the season ended today, it was stand as the second-best shooting percentage in school history only behind the 72.0 shooting percentage of Chris Jackson during the 1983-84 season.

Come back next Tuesday for another number as the Panthers open defense of their Sun Belt Conference championship at home at UL Monroe. Tip is set for approx. 7 p.m., right after the women play the Warhawks as well.
