Men’s Basketball Number of the Game: 2.26

Georgia State faces its first Sun Belt road test of the season at UL Lafayette on Thursday night, renewing a rivalry that developed in three highly-contested games last season. Make sure to listen to the game on 1340 The Fan 3 or WRAS-FM 88.5 as Dave Cohen calls the action. Tip is set for 8:15 p.m. ET.

Last season, the Panthers swept the regular season series with the Ragin’ Cajuns, including a 77-70 win in Lafayette, to win the Sun Belt Conference regular season title. UL Lafayette returned the favor with a overtime upset win over Georgia State in the Sun Belt tournament championship game, which sent the Ragin’ Cajuns to the NCAA tournament.

As you know, running through the entire season, the InsideGSUSports blog will present the Number of  the Game, a quick number and explanation of its significance before tip-off.

The number will come from a variety of different places, but will always be significant to the team or that specific game.

Today’s Numbers of the Game:

Redshirt-junior Kevin Ware is starting to settle into the Panther program in his first year. He is currently averaging 2.26 steals per game, which is second in the Sun Belt and 26th in the nation entering Thursday night.

Come back Saturday for another number of the game as the Panthers prepare to host Troy in the GSU Sports Arena at 2 p.m. ET.
