Men’s Basketball Number of the Game: 2

Georgia State opens a quick two-game road trip on Saturday afternoon in Boone, N.C., facing new Sun Belt member Appalachian State. I know we will have a bunch of fans making the road trip, but if you can’t make it, be sure to listen to the game on 1340 The Fan 3 or WRAS-FM, 1230 The Fan 2.

The Panthers have won two-straight and at 4-2 in the Sun Belt, are just a half-game out of first-place entering the day. At 11-6, it is the third-best start to a season in program history.

As you know, running through the entire season, the InsideGSUSports blog will present the Number of  the Game, a quick number and explanation of its significance before tip-off.

The number will come from a variety of different places, but will always be significant to the team or that specific game.

Today’s Numbers of the Game:

R.J. Hunter and R.J. Hunter are one of just two duos in the country averaging 20 or more points per game for their team. The other duo is Iona’s A.J. English and David Laury. How rare is it to have teammates average 20 points or more for a season? The last time it happened was during the 2006-07 season when Hofstra teammates Loren Stokes and Antoine Agudio accomplished the feat.

Come back Monday for another Men’s Basketball Number of the Game as the Panthers travel to Arkansas State for an 8:15 p.m. ET tip. Georgia State swept three games from the Red Wolves last year, including a Sun Belt Championship semifinals game.
