Men’s Basketball Number of the Game: 23

Georgia State history could be made in Jonesboro, Ark., tonight, which will lead to our Men’s Basketball Number of the Game, but first…

Georgia State concludes a quick two-game road trip on Monday night at Arkansas State. Tip is set for 8:30 p.m. ET. Be sure to listen to the game on 1340 The Fan 3 or WRAS-FM 88.5 as Dave Cohen calls the action.

The Panthers are looking to rebound from a tough loss to Appalachian State on Saturday afternoon. Georgia State shot 57.8 percent for the game, including 78.3 percent in the first half, but the Mountaineers knocked down 12 3-pointers and overcame a double digit second half deficit.

As you know, running through the entire season, the InsideGSUSports blog will present the Number of  the Game, a quick number and explanation of its significance before tip-off.

The number will come from a variety of different places, but will always be significant to the team or that specific game.

Today’s Numbers of the Game:

R.J. Hunter enters the night just 23 points shy of tying Rodney Hamilton’s school-record 1,515 career points. Hunter, who is only a junior, has averaged 18.1 points per game during his career, the 11th best active mark in the NCAA.

If history doesn’t occur tonight, it might just come on Saturday as the Panthers host UL Lafayette in the GSU Sports Arena. Tip is set for 2 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPN3.
