Inside Marketing: Gearing up for Spring

On the first Monday of every month, a member of the Marketing staff will give a behind-the-scenes look at what’s going on around its area and the department. Over the course of every month, each department will be featured at least once. Coming Wednesday: Panther Athletic Club

The weather may still be cold and all signs may point to winter, but here in the GSU marketing department we are already gearing up for spring! And with spring comes baseball and softball season! Here is an advanced look at the exciting events happening this month!

First, the Pounce’s Kids Club (PKC) website received an update to several pages. Also, PKC parents should be on the lookout for a new monthly newsletter in their inboxes starting this month!

Now onto America’s favorite pastime. The GSU baseball team opens their home slate on Friday, Feb. 13th against Fordham at 4 p.m. They will continue play throughout the weekend as part of the Atlanta Challenge.

Since it’s only February, basketball is still in full swing. The Panthers will face down South Alabama on Thursday, Feb. 19th. The women will play at 5 p.m., the men will follow at 7 p.m.

Feb. 20 starts a VERY busy weekend for everyone in the GSU Athletics Department. On Friday, baseball begins their second weekend home series against UMass-Lowell while softball opens their home slate with the Panther Invitational.

On Saturday, Feb. 21st Panther Fans will have their pick of GSU Athletic Events. This is probably one of the busiest days of the year for all of us in the department as both basketball teams take on Appalachian State, while baseball plays a double header against UMass-Lowell, and softball plays a double header against Mount St. Mary’s at 1:30 p.m. and then Presbyterian College at 4 p.m.

To close out the busiest weekend of the month, on Sunday, Feb. 22, baseball finishes their series against UMass-Lowell while softball will work to secure the Panther Invitational title.

Starting on Wednesday, Feb. 25th, softball and baseball will officially partner with the Make-A-Wish foundation to raise funds to help the foundation grant more wishes. Every Wednesday game for baseball and softball will now be Make-A-Wish-Wednesday. At every game, $1 of every ticket sold will be donated to Make-A-Wish. We will also have opportunities for fans to make additional donations in the form of Star-Campaigns, bake sales, and a Miracle Minute. Furthermore, we will have fun promotional activities for all of our fans to get involved.

Finally, at the end of the month, baseball will host a home series against Ohio beginning with a game on Friday, Feb. 27th, at 4 p.m.

Without a doubt the month of February will be a busy, but very exciting one for GSU Athletics. In addition to hosting these awesome events we will also be preparing for other baseball and softball games in the spring. Theme games later in the year include Hero Appreciation Day and PKC Day for both sports. Plus, softball will also have a ‘Strike Out Cancer’ game on April 11th. It will definitely be a fun-filled baseball and softball season, and we can’t wait to share it with you while continuing to make sure your experience here at GSU is a great one.

Be on the lookout for more information regarding upcoming events at Panthersville and as always we hope you continue to be involved with our #PantherFamily.
